2 men arrested over London Jewish ambulance attack

Police say CCTV shows at least three people were involved.

LONDON — Two men were arrested Wednesday following an arson attack on Jewish community ambulances in London.

A 47-year-old and 45-year-old were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. They remain in police custody, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. Officers are carrying out searches at two addresses in London.

Counter terrorism police launched an investigation Monday after four Hatzola ambulances were set on fire outside a synagogue in Golders Green, north London. The Met said Monday the attack is being treated as an “antisemitic hate crime.”

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his “disgust” at the “horrific antisemitic attack.”

No injuries were reported from the incident and the fires were put out. Nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution.

In the statement Wednesday, the Met said they were “mindful” that “CCTV footage of the incident suggests there were at least three people involved.”

“Our investigation very much remains active and we will continue to work to identify and seek to arrest all of those who may have been involved,” Helen Flanagan, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London said.
