Voltaback raises €2.8M to scale EV charging reimbursement across Europe

Voltaback will use the funding to expand its team and roll out its connected vehicle data platform across Europe, helping businesses manage fleets and reimburse employees for home EV charging.

French fleet management software startup Voltaback has raised €2.8 million from European investment fund Serena and several business angels, including Aurélien de Meaux, co-founder of Electra, and Maxime Brousse, Sequoia Scout.

Voltaback has developed a software platform that uses connected vehicle data to help companies manage their fleets without requiring additional hardware or equipment. The company initially focused on helping employers reimburse employees for charging company electric vehicles at home.

According to Voltaback, home charging can create administrative challenges for businesses, which need to separate work-related electricity consumption from an employee’s personal usage and produce reimbursement documentation accepted by URSSAF.

Voltaback’s platform combines data from electricity bills, meters and connected vehicles to reconstruct individual home charging sessions and calculate their cost based on the employee’s electricity contract. It then generates a reimbursement receipt. The company says its calculation method has been validated by Bureau Veritas, is patented and is covered by an advance ruling from URSSAF.

If employees aren’t reimbursed by their employer for charging at home, they lose out on €600 a year, which pushes them toward public charging stations. For the company, those same charges then cost up to €2,000 a year,

said Arnaud Tran, co-founder of Voltaback.

The company is targeting a growing market as businesses transition their fleets to electric vehicles. In the first half of 2026, 241,565 new electric cars were registered in France, accounting for 28.2 per cent of the passenger car market.

Over the past twelve months, Voltaback says its platform has been adopted by 20 per cent of CAC 40 companies. Its customers include Veolia, Equans, BNP Paribas, Sanef, Lyreco, Loxam, Fayat, Fives and Sodexo. Veolia, which operates more than 20,000 vehicles in France, is rolling out the platform over three years, covering at least 6,000 electric vehicles, while Equans operates a fleet of 25,000 vehicles.

Voltaback has since expanded the platform beyond electric vehicle charging. Fleet managers can connect combustion-engine vehicles as well as electric vehicles to track mileage, calculate benefits in kind and report CSR indicators without deploying telematics devices. The company uses vehicle-generated data to support decisions around areas such as charging locations and eco-driving.

Voltaback will use the funding to roll out its platform across six European countries and expand its team, as it looks to broaden its offering for business mobility in Europe.
