Morocco beat Nigeria on penalties to reach first AFCON final since 2004

Morocco’s dream of an AFCON home victory is still alive. Achraf Hakimi’s side beat Nigeria on penalties in the semi-finals (0-0, 4-2 on penalties) to set up a final against Senegal. Morocco is aiming to win their first continental title since 1976, while Senegal return to the final for the third time in seven years.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s first game in charge as Real Madrid coach couldn’t have gone worse. The Spanish giants were eliminated from the Copa del Rey in the round of 16 by second-tier side Albacete.

In England, Arsenal took a step toward the League Cup final by beating Chelsea away in the first leg.

The Dakar Rally is approaching its conclusion, with Nasser Al-Attiyah leading the race. The Qatari driver holds a 12-minute lead over his closest rival, with three stages remaining.
