UK releases Mandelson files on ex-envoy’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein

LONDON — The British government on Wednesday began releasing documents on former U.S. ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

The administration promised to begin disclosing files related to Mandelson’s controversial appointment as envoy after U.S. disclosures showed he continued to correspond with the sex offender for years after his conviction.

Mandelson has denied wrongdoing and apologized to the victims of Epstein’s crimes.
